Results Are In For Ocean Week Canada!

Updated: Aug 6, 2023

The Aquatic Biosphere Ocean Week cleanup has come to a close. It was a perfect day for the event and was great seeing all the participants doing their part to keep Edmonton litter free. Some interesting items that our volunteers came across during the cleanup include a propane tank, kitchen utensils, and a parking cone.

Our organization was lucky to have a really great crew turn up this year! We appreciate our volunteers for all the work they do and look forward to celebrating them this fall on National Volunteer Day, September 21st.

A shout-out to Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society – Northern Alberta (CPAWS) for joining us this year at Victoria Park. They have been championing the protection of Alberta’s diverse natural heritage since our establishment in 1968 and are working to keep Canada’s public land and water wild. Currently, they campaigning to raise awareness for the declining Woodland caribou populations in Alberta.

The Aquatic Biosphere would like to also give a huge thank you to Bliss Baked Goods for donating their delicious donuts to the event. This local YEG gem is a family-owned bakery that is 100% dairy-free and nut free with vegan options.

If you couldn't make it to our June #trashtag event don't worry. Sign up for our newsletter and we'll let you know when the next scheduled clean-up is happening.
