At the heart of the Aquatic Biosphere Project is education. It is hardcoded into our mission and we believe it is the single most important tool that society has to offer anyone of any age.
Each cornerstone of the Aquatic Biosphere has education and knowledge in its roots. Programs for pre-schoolers, primary and secondary graders, post-secondary, graduate, and beyond. People who never finished school, people with Ph.D.’s will all find something to discover.
Whether here in the Aquatic Biosphere or with one of our allies or partners, locally or distant, access is an aspect of the project’s development.
Some quick information sheets are available for download about the Aquatic Biosphere Project:
Camps & Classrooms
Since 2019, the Aquatic Biosphere Project has been a provider of exciting camp and classroom programs for Edmonton Public Schools and the greater Metro Region.
Nature walks, pond studies, aquaponics, water science and more. Our programs are sure to delight and inspire. Selected content available for virtual access as well as in-class and in-situ presentations and activities.
Students in Education
In our commitment to Education, the Society is working with University Education programs, to create opportunities for students to experience leading a classroom first hand, often for the first time. As a Community Service Partner, we work with both the University and K-12 schools to coordinate these opportunities.
If your school is interested in being a host for these students, please reach out to us for more information.
Have we met before?
Very possibly. The Aquatic Biosphere Project has been attending the annual Greater Edmonton Teachers Conference for a number of years now. Here we may have discussed programs, advertised curricula-ready in-class programs, and other key components to this project.
Feel free to get in touch, let's discuss your needs and how we can help support your students and lessons through a lens of water and biodiversity.
The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.
-Jacques Yves Cousteau
If you’d like to help with some of this development, we are looking for educators from a variety of backgrounds to help make sure what is being developed is in alignment to current curriculum guidelines and student (& teacher) friendly as well.
