Education Partners

The Aquatic Biosphere is passionate about education and supporting the development of our youth, students and recent graduates. The Project works with a number of community based internship and engaged learning experiences to offer opportunities of skills development, leadership and work experiences.

The Aquatic Biosphere works in collaboration with post-secondary institutes to offer real-time projects to students as part of class studies, or as volunteer credit options. The Project has worked with:

For any post-secondary institution interested in having their students engage with opportunities in a unique project development, where their contributions are incorporated into the creation of this facility, please reach out to the Aquatic Biosphere Project. Community development that enhances and supports youth learning and engagement is an important part of the educational mission of the organization.

MACEWAN UNIVERSITY

As a Community Partner, we have:

  • Supported undergraduate research studies in the Department of Biological Sciences,

  • With the School of Business we have worked with student groups for project based studies,

  • In conjunction with Riipen, engaged students in experiential learning in business consulting, and

  • With student groups we have engaged specific project talent to develop applications and designs.

UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA

As a Community Partner, we have:

  • Mentored students under the Non-Profit Board Student Internship (NPBI) program,

  • Coached students to actively participate in non-profit Boards for the school term, and

  • Mentored by a sitting Board member, the participants are able to see what it's like to be on a Board and provide a presentation at year end.

NORTHERN ALBERTA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

As a Community Partner, we have:

  • Supported student-led projects and capstone teams as a client to their program studies,

  • Fostered client-consultant communications best practices, and

  • Programming, graphic design, animation, marketing focuses to develop applications and programs.

VOLUNTEER ALBERTA

As a Community Partner, we have:

  • Become a partner in the Youth at the Table program, a chance for youth to participate as an active Board Member of a non-profit, and

  • Similar to the UofA's program, this one is open to any youth interested in gaining experience in Board work.

INDIGITECH WITH THE INDIGENOUS FRIENDS ASSOCIATION

As a Community Partner, we have:

  • IndigiTech certificate graduate internship placements,

  • Develop commercial work projects to reinforce skills and tools learned, and

  • Mentoring best practices, communication skills.
